Inspired by Whaleback Natural Area.

This collection is about me capturing the essence of what I love about the area and at the top of that list are the many beautiful views. There are so many little hiking trails all over the Leelanau Peninsula and this one affords you a beautiful lake overlook and a look at the Whaleback Bluff in the distance. This entire area is the home of the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore—I’m not really even painting the dunes in this collection, though I highly recommend you experience those if you travel to the area. You can go to the dune climb or drive the Pierce Stocking Drive, or another favorite is the Empire Bluff Trail. Amazing! This area is truly a wonderland for those that appreciate the beauty of nature.

Oil and cold wax medium on Arches oil paper with beautiful deckled edges. Approximately 20.5”x16” overall paper size. Painted area on the paper is approximately 20”x15.5”. These paintings are not on panels. Each piece will be titled, signed and dated on the back.
