Inspired by Van’s Beach in Leland.

With access to a lake right outside our door, we didn’t spend much time on the local beaches but Van’s Beach in Leland is a popular spot with gorgeous Lake Michigan views. We waitressed almost every night of the week at the Leelanau Country Inn which was right across the Little Traverse Lake but found ourselves picking up some extra work at the touristy gift shops in Leland a few days a week. One family owned several of the shops right on Main Street as well as a shanty shop in Fishtown. My favorite shop to work in was River & Main which offered wine tasting of local wines and specialty coffee drinks and it was fun to interact with the tourists and the locals. I think I ate my weight in dark chocolate covered espresso beans that summer (shhh, don’t tell anyone).

Oil and cold wax medium on Arches oil paper with beautiful deckled edges. Approximately 20.5”x16” overall paper size. Painted area on the paper is approximately 20”x15.5”. These paintings are not on panels. Each piece will be titled, signed and dated on the back.
